Corporate Challenge Cup Race Series

The corporate Challenge Cup is an opportunity to engage your workplace team in a fun and challenging team building activity while raising the profile of your business.
Here is how it works:
The first step is to build your team. Teams should have from 10 -
12 members (although up to 20 can be aboard). Moderate physical fitness
is important, but individual strength or sailing experience is not necessary
– this is in every sense a team sport, success is determined by
how well the team works together, not by having one or two “ringers”.
Once the team is chosen they should get together before the race to review the race manual and decide who will occupy the various crew positions. These positions will determine each team member’s on-board tasks during the races. (This will also be a good time for the team to fill out crew jacket order forms).

For the first elimination round, teams may choose their race date (first come first served). Subsequent race dates for winning teams will be determined by the race schedule, however some flexibility is possible.
On race day our staff will bring the team on board (which vessel your team sails will be determined by coin toss) and teach them everything they need to know as the ships head down river towards Saginaw Bay. Once out in the Bay there will be about half an hour of warm-up sailing before the start. The race itself will take from 1 to 1½ hours depending on weather conditions. Before or after the race (depending on your scheduled race time) both teams will enjoy an on-board meal served as the ships are transiting the river. Back at the dock we will finalize the race results.

Race results are be posted on the BaySail website and winning teams are notified of their next race date.
The race final is held in mid June. It is immediately followed by a dockside cup presentation and barbeque.
