Group Tours - Booking the Ships
Operating from late April through October, the Appledore Schooners sail the waters of the Saginaw River and Saginaw Bay on Lake Huron. On our vessels, members of your group can sit back, relax, and enjoy the view from the deck of a real Tall Ship. Or, for those looking for more activity, our crew is ready to press them into service to haul on the halyards and help sail the ship.
We can accommodate groups of up to 48 with space enough for everyone to have a cushioned seat. In a large, well appointed below deck area there is more seating and a rest room. Also, souvenirs and beverages are available for purchase.
If you are interested in enjoying a meal during your sail please go to our meal service page for more information. We have a variety of menus, from a simple box lunch to a multi course meal with on-board chefs.
The ships are available any time of day. We are happy to fit the sailing time to your group's itinerary. How long your group spends on the ship is entirely up to you, but we recommend a three-hour sail to get the most of both the Saginaw River and Saginaw Bay.
Fall Colors

In October, as the leaves begin to change and the temperature starts to cool, the Appledore IV changes course and we begin our popular two-hour autumn color tour sails. Sailing upriver on the Saginaw, passengers will enjoy hot cider, chili and cornbread while keeping a sharp eye for Bald Eagles, Snowy Egrets, and of course the lovely colors. Cozy quilts available too!
