2013 Voyage Schedule
This year our Windward Bound Voyages join the Tall Ships Fleet as we sail in company between Tall Ships events on Lake Erie, Lake Huron and Lake Michigan. During Lake Bound Voyages participants will study freshwater science with a particular focus on the Centers for Ocean Sciences Education Excellence (COSEE) Great Lakes literacy concepts.
June 23 - June 30: Detroit - Cleveland
July 7 - July 10: Cleveland - Bay City
August 1 - August 7: Bay City - Chicago
August 11 - 21: Chicago - Green Bay - Bay City
Thanks to the generosity of local donors and the BaySail Board of Directors we are able to offer a limited number of Windward Bound Scholarships. Highly motivated Great Lakes Bay region secondary school students with at least four years of science coursework in thier graduation plan are eligible to apply. Please contact us for details.
To book a voyage a 50% non-refundable deposit is required. The balance is due seven days before departure. All fees are non-refundable.
To book the entire ship for a voyage a 10% non-refundable deposit is required. A second non-refundable payment of 50% of the remaining voyage fee is due by April 1st, and the final balance is due 30 days before departure. We can accommodate groups of up to 11. For group bookings there will be an eight person minimum charge. All fees are non-refundable.
Round trip van transportation from Bay City to the ships provided on all voyages for a $40 per person fee.
The Appledore IV is licensed and inspected by the U.S. Coast Guard and is crewed by a licenced captain and first mate, and two youth crew. Windward Bound is licenced by the State of Michigan as a youth travel camp. BaySail is a member oftall Ships America (TSA)and a past recipient of the TSA "Sea Education Program of the Year" award.
